My name is Jose Brian Sandoval; however, I prefer Brian, my middle name. When given the opportunity, I tend to exceed expectations and complete every task to the best of my ability. I find patterns and problems; then deliver a reliable solution.
When I was 3 my family started a small business. They had a small shop that opened only on the weekends in Fletcher, North Carolina.
2 years later they decided to open a second business in Waynesville, NC. This Store would focus on providing cultural foods to our Hispanic community.
Our business became our life and as I grew older, our business grew. We expanded twice, and soon as I learned to count change, I begged to learn the cash register.
At 12 years old, I started counting the register. For each service we had, we adopted a separate system for doing it. By this point I started signing up for computer classes at school and learning Microsoft Word and Excel.
The older I got, the more I was eager to learn. By 14 started counting deposits and learning the end of the day reports. I began to make small changes where I thought we could improve. I also began learning the new systems first and then train the rest of the team.
By this point, our business had become my life. I came straight from school and helped my parents every day. At 16 years old, I was running the business and closing the store. My parents could now leave and have dinner alone or take a night off.
I became the person to implement changes across the business; whether a new system or services, I was the one to make it happen. This passion has drove me to pursue a degree in Business Administration.
As a Business major, gained the ability to pursue many different opportunities. Working at Marriott has provided me just that, an opportunity.
My education has provided me with a foundation of fundamental business principles, that I have seen first-hand through my work experience. Because of my drive and experience, my roles in the work place have always evolved and become more operations driven.
Working at a hotel for three years has opened my eyes to the industry. I've learned so much in a very short period. I started in July of 2016, during the final stages of a two-year renovation project.
As an Assistant Front Office Manager I've gained a tremendous amount of experience. I was fortunate to constantly be involved in bringing new systems and processes across the hotel. I gained a better understanding of how much goes into running a hotel, especially the hotel of the future.
Looking back, for as look as I can remember, I have always been the one to solve problems. In all of my roles I've always been the one my team looks to when something goes wrong. I am able to remain calm and collected as I find the best possible solution and minimize the risk.
This led me to pursue a career change that allowed me to use all of my skills to succeed. As a Project Coordinator, I am able to manage several tasks at hand while ensuring they continue to move forward. I enjoy a fast paced environments and understand how I fit into the bigger picture. I am responsive and provide communication of risks, before they become a problem. I've also become a resource for new team members to ask questions and learn from.
Currently I am a Project Manager, leading a small team of permit specialist through the permitting process. It's fast-paced and always changing, which pushes to be be more flexible and creative every single day. I strive to provide constant open communication to my clients with real time updates. I set realistic deadlines and constantly work to deliver faster results. I enjoy seeing everything from a broader perspective and being the lines of communication for multiple departments.
With my experience I've developed an ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and collaborate effectively with stakeholders. I possess exceptional problem-solving abilities with a detail-oriented approach.
Whether it's creating or implementing new technologies, I've develop and implement several new concepts and ideas in my previous roles. I thrive when giving the fundamentals tools needed and able to work freely through the motions. I quick find patterns and build processes for myself that will produce results effectively and efficiently.
